It may change your life and make a difference to the lives of many non human animal friends............Welcome to QGAR........"What is the common link between all atrocities in our society's past? Shameful chapters of history, such as the African slave trade, the stolen generation, the massacre and displacement of Native Americans, the oppression of women, and forced child labor, were the products of a dangerous belief that those with power have the right to abuse those without it: that might somehow does make right. Whether for profit, convenience, or just plain amusement, this supremacist attitude caused people as a society to tolerate, perpetuate, and indignantly defend outrageously cruel acts". To see more, please view the Animal Liberation Display below by PETA.................Animal cruelty has no borders. Animal activism should have no borders as well. Please see the many ways you can help all animals from barbaric and terrible suffering. ............ "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." ~Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860).............."All beings tremble before violence. All fear death. All love life."...... Buddha..............."Today, together with a growing appreciation of the importance of human rights there is a greater awareness worldwide of the need for the protection not only of the environment, but also of animals and their rights. Where there is a mind, there are feelings such as pain, pleasure and joy. No sentient being wants pain, instead all want happiness. Since we all share these feelings at some basic level, we as rational human beings have an obligation to contribute in whatever way we can to the happiness of other species and try our best to relieve their fears and sufferings." ......HH XIV Dalai Lama ............"As long as humans continue to be the ruthless destroyer of other beings, we will never know health or peace. For as long as people massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, those who sow the seed of murder and pain will never reap joy or love." Pythagoras ............"Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." ~ Albert Einstein ...................Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect. - Chief Seattle.................... "To shut your mind, heart, imagination to the sufferings of others is to begin slowly but inexorably to die. It is to cease by inches from being human, to become in the end capable of nothing, generous or unselfish ? or sometimes capable of anything, however terrible."............John Austin Baker, Bishop of Salisbury.................."I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men."............Leonardo Da Vinci, artist, designer, inventor and scientist.............."You have just dined, and however scrupulously the slaughterhouse is concealed in the graceful distance of miles, there is complicity." .................Ralph Waldo Emerson............."To a man whose mind is free there is something even more intolerable in the sufferings of animals than in the sufferings of man. For with the latter it is at least admitted that suffering is evil and that the man who causes it is a criminal. But thousands of animals are uselessly butchered every day without a shadow of remorse. If any man were to refer to it, he would be thought ridiculous. And that is the unpardonable crime."........Romain Rolland, author, Nobel Prize 1915.............."As custodians of the planet it is our responsibility to deal with all species with kindness, love and compassion. That these animals suffer through human cruelty is beyond understanding. Please help to stop this madness."Richard Gere............"The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.".................."To my mind the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. I should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body. I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to the protection by man from the cruelty of man." .................."To see the universal and all-pervading Spirit of Truth face to face one must be able to love the meanest of creation as oneself."................"We must be the change we wish to see.".........Mahatma Gandhi..............."Not to hurt our humble brethren (the animals ) is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higher mission - to be of service to them whenever they require it... If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men".............St Francis of Assisi........................."Animal liberation is also human liberation. Animal liberationists care about the quality of life for all. We recognize our kinship with all feeling beings. We identify with the powerless and the vulnerable ? the victims, all those dominated, oppressed and exploited. And it is the non-human animals whose suffering is the most intense, widespread, expanding, systematic and socially sanctioned of all."......Henry Spira............."But for the sake of some little mouthful of flesh we deprive a soul of the sun and light, and of that proportion of life and time it had been born into the world to enjoy.".............Plutarch..........."Refrain at all times from such foods as cannot be procured without violence and oppression."..........Thomas Tryon:..........."Show me the enforced laws of a state for the prevention of cruelty to animals and I in turn will give you a correct estimate of the refinement, enlightenment, integrity and equality of that commonwealth's people.".........L.T. Danshiell........... "The wild, cruel beast is not behind the bars of the cage. He is in front of it." ........Axel Munthe..........."We consume the carcasses of creatures of like appetites, passions and organs as our own, and fill the slaughterhouses daily with screams of pain and fear."...........Robert Louis Stevenson............"Life is life's greatest gift. Guard the life of another creature as you would your own because it is your own. On life's scale of values, the smallest is no less precious to the creature that owns it than the largest.".........Lloyd Buggle Jr.........The veal industry was created as a by-product of the dairy industry to take advantage of an abundant supply of unwanted male calves. Veal calves commonly live for eighteen to twenty weeks in wooden crates that are so small that they cannot turn around, stretch their legs, or even lie down comfortably. The calves are fed a liquid milk substitute, deficient in iron and fiber, which is designed to make the animals anemic, resulting in the light-colored flesh that is prized as veal. In addition to this high-priced veal, some calves are killed at just a few days old to be sold as low-grade 'bob' veal for products like frozen TV dinners. .....

Buddhists for Animal Rights [BAR] is a totally self funded independent Australian animal rights organisation that was established in mid 2005. Our other groups name is QGAR [Queensland Group for Animal Rights], so you will find many references to QGAR on this site. Our main goal is to assist in the abolition of animal use in medical research, product testing, circuses, rodeos and other forms of entertainment. We are uncompromisingly opposed to the so-called sport of hunting and the wearing of animal skin, mainly fur, but also including leather, wool, down, etc. Plus, BAR supports the eventual phasing-out of animals for food consumption. Moreover, BAR is an unwavering supporter of human rights, and we are seeking an end to discrimination of all kinds. With your help, through non-violent action, we can end the unnecessary bloodshed, malicious treatment and injustices that all sentient beings endure. [ thanks to ADAPTT for description]
We are currently involved in a variety of campaigns to address legal and institutional issues. We try to work constructively with various Parliamentary and Departmental offices wherever possible with our informal group. We also participate in many international and domestic animal rights campaigns and belong to many online animal rights action groups.
Buddhists for Animal Rights is just another small cog in the wheel of an ever -growing international movement which believes that non human animals have a right to exist in this world without fear of death, imprisonment, torture or exploitation. We do not believe in the exploitation of sentient beings, human and non human, or the exploitation of the environment for profit. We believe all beings are interconnected, we are all equal, and hence we should all act accordingly to protect all beings from suffering and protect the environment in a non violent way. Injustice to one being effects us all and makes us all the poorer for it. If you ever wonder why animal rights?- frequently asked questions

This is primate research If this was done to companion animals this would be a felony. However this is also done to companion animals. This must end.

and many campaigns by P.E.T.ABAR would like to encourage every person who has ever loved a companion animal to make the connection and extend this compassion and protection to all non human animals worldwide, not just the ones we might find "cute".
BAR believes peace can only be achieved in this world if one tries to develop in their own life, a cruelty-free conscious compassionate life to both our human and non human animals. We would encourage people to join as many international animal rights groups as possible and become active. Non human animal exploitation and cruelty has no borders and the more voices that are heard, the more government and industries will sit up and listen. One of the best way to help stop animal cruelty, exloitation and abuse is to stop supporting industries and governments who support this directly or indirectly. Another way is to adopt a: Cruelty free lifestyle. Purchasing cruelty free products, footware, clothing etc.Australian List of cruelty free products. Another important way is to help stop cruelty is to become an activist ! Buddhists for Animal Rights believes in protection and rights for the vulnerable, those who have no voice. We believe through each small compassionate action, this will extend to all and help achieve peace in this world ultimately.
Humane education is the key also to stopping animal abuse. BAR also recommends supporting your local animal shelters by adopting homeless animals and supporting Farm sanctuaries. We would also recommend you urge your members of Government and local districts to adopt "In Defense of Animals" - Animal Guardian Campaign.

Each year millinos of Korean Dogs are strung up by the back legs, and beaten to death over a long period of time to increase the adrenaline in their meat. Adrenalin is seen to be an aphrodisiac. Also dogs don't sweat, and eating dog meat is believed to keep the person cooler in the hot months
Procter & Gamble refuse to discontinue uneccessary animal testing, as do many industries.
